Selected from small landholders in northern Peru. Coffee that comes from the Cajamarca region is known to be of the highest quality coffee one can find in Peru. You can expect intense chocolate flavor with delicate nutty undertones and a desert-like quality in the cup.
With Peru's mountainous landscape, farmers sometimes have to travel 8 hours to the nearest town where they can sell their coffee. This lot of coffee comes from various small landholders from different areas in the Cajamarca region. Buying coffee in this way benefits the farmers and their community by allowing them to get a fair price (far above fair trade, as always) and allows the importer we work with to build lasting relationships with the various farmers spread across the vast landscape of Peru.
