So excited to have a Kenyan back in the roastery for the first time in over a year! We missed having a Kenyan for its brightness and unique flavors. This specific coffee is candy-sweet and our goal in the roast profiling was to highlight this sweetness. We usually push Kenyans to get the most brightness and acidity but this lot shifted our protocols and what we look for in Kenyans. We are really excited about how it is tasting and the feedback we have got so far. This is a middle-of-the-road Kenyan, not so light that it will curdle cream, but it is still one of our lighter roasts.
Mitondo Coffee Factory is operated by the Mwirua Farmers Cooperative Society founded in the 1960s. Cherries are delivered by smallholder farmers before being de-pulped and fermented underwater for 15–24 hours. The coffee is washed three times before being laid to dry.
